Sonnia Gitome.

Sonnia Gitome is a Nairobi based screen and radio writer, with eight years experience writing local and international shows. She has written for popular television shows like Sumu la Penzi, Machachari, Highway motel, Tumaini senta, Tuikaranie, a Gikuyu show that airs on Kameme TV and Zora. In 2019 her short film Love Daggers won at the MachaWood Film Festival. In 2020 and 2021 she wrote a radio drama show for UNFPA, Let's Talk! ending early and unintended pregnancy Campaign (EUP) and has worked as a Swahili transcriber for UNESCO's learning never stops campaign. She studied creative entrepreneurship through the Godown Art Centre and obtained a diploma in screen writing from Search Light Solutions. Sonnia is driven and passionate about telling authentic Kenyan and African stories through the lens. When she is not scripting or on a set, she is tending to her flowers.

“I don’t know why my father chose the path that he chose. I am his daughter but nothing like him. I have carved my own path. I value human life; I respect the law and I’m here because I believe I can safeguard the constitution and the citizens of this country.” As she said the last words, she saw several officers exchange looks. The answer seemed to satisfy them because she got the job.
